Refurbished and open-box: a legitimate way to save

Manufacturer-refurbished machines sold directly by the brand or an authorised retailer with a genuine warranty are a reasonable way to save 15–30% outside of sale periods, since they've typically been tested and repaired to a working standard. This is different from unbranded "open box" listings on general marketplaces, which may lack clear warranty terms — read the listing carefully before assuming refurbished always means the same level of protection.
