Bosch-built machines
Every Tassimo machine is made by Bosch. Models differ mainly in tank size, styling and how many settings they expose.
T Disc system
Barcode-read discs set water volume and temperature automatically. Milk-based drinks use two discs — one milk, one coffee.
Drink range
Costa, Kenco, L'OR, Cadbury and Twinings, which is the widest branded range of any UK pod system.

Tassimo makes sense for a mixed household — coffee, tea and hot chocolate drinkers sharing one cheap machine. It does not make sense if you mainly drink espresso or lattes, where Nespresso does better coffee for less per drink. Count the two-disc cost for milk drinks before assuming it is the cheap option.

Is Tassimo cheaper than Nespresso?

The machines are cheaper, but the drinks often are not. Black coffee discs cost roughly 35–50p, and milk-based drinks need two discs, which can push a latte past 70p — more than a Nespresso capsule plus your own milk.

Who makes Tassimo coffee machines?

Bosch makes all of them. Differences between models are tank size, styling and exposed settings rather than the brewing system, which is identical throughout.

Can you recycle Tassimo T Discs?

Not through normal kerbside collection — they are plastic and need a dedicated take-back scheme. This is the weakest point of the system against aluminium capsules from Nespresso or L'OR.

Is Tassimo being discontinued?

No. The system remains widely stocked in UK supermarkets with an active drinks range, though it has lost shelf share to Nespresso-compatible capsules over recent years.
